ELLIOT SWART
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Elliot Swart is an owner and managing director of Viewgrow Capital Asset Management. Based in Melbourne, Elliot has daily contact with VCAM’s New York office.
As the eldest member of the Eddie Kornhauser family’s third Australian generation, Elliot grew up surrounded by real estate investment. For the past nine years he has run Viewgrow Capital, the Swart family office in Australia. Viewgrow Capital is a private family investment vehicle with a focus on direct investments, including real estate and other asset classes.
Elliot’s substantial management experience includes owning a business consulting firm as well as a successful computer training business in Melbourne. Between those roles, Elliot completed a Masters Degree at Bond University in Master Sport Management and Business Development & Growth Strategies where he was appointed to the Vice Chancellor’s List for Academic Excellence.
Elliot also holds a Bachelor of Commerce – Strategic Management from Monash University. In addition, he has completed the Company Directors Course Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
NEIL MADSEN
ASSET MANAGER
VCAM has retained Madsen Advisors, LLC to provide day-to-day asset management services. Founding principal Neil Madsen has more than 25 years of real estate experience. Prior to forming Madsen Advisors, Neil was Executive Vice President & Head of Private Equity at AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC, where he launched and managed a program dedicated to real estate and natural resources investing. Known as the Real Estate Alternatives Portfolio or “REAP” this program placed more than $1.7 billion in equity commitments into a variety of strategies across 3 continents including real estate, timberland, and energy investments through a combination of direct, joint venture, and commingled fund vehicles.
Prior to joining AEGON, Neil worked in Sydney, Australia as Director of Property Research, Valuation and Analysis at Grant Samuel, an Australian investment and advisory firm, where he worked on assignments in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Prior to working in Sydney, Neil was a commercial real estate appraiser with Landauer Associates in New York and, prior to that, with Madsen Appraisal Associates, a family-owned valuation business based in Princeton, New Jersey.
Neil holds the MAI and CRE designations, is a certified general appraiser in New Jersey and a registered valuer in Queensland, Australia. He has served on boards and committees for numerous real estate funds, firms and professional associations. He earned a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Valuation and Analysis from New York University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Finance from Macquarie University in Sydney.
